This collaborative mural is for the client target specifically for the target that was destroyed on lakestreet after the murder of George Flloyd. This mural was meant to reflect not only our experiences as artists but also show the community that target cares and wants to do better by Using the statement,
"We stand together we build together"
My piece of the mural using the word Build is called Triad phoenixes.
Triad Phoenixes depicts a black woman and dual phoenixes that represent new life, rebirth, and change. There are two of course because we are seeing things such as rebirth and change not only in our city of Minneapolis but also on a national scale. The world is changing, rising, and breathing a new fiery oxygen. The people who have been the heart and soul of this change and the real phoenix have been black women. Black women have done a large majority of protest organization, food drives, and community-based planning on a local and or national scale. Whether that is the creation of black lives matter, northside food setups, or giving children free notebooks and pencils for back to school black women have been a large and integral part of the change. This is why this piece is dedicated to them.
